MUMBAI: The defense in the 2002 alleged hit and run case involving actor Salman Khan cross examined the RTO officer who told the sessions court a day earlier that the actor had procured a license only in 2004. During the hearing, the defense raised questions on how the register used to show the license entry of August 2004 had only one entry pertaining to the month, while all other entries were specifically related to those made on January 5 and 6, 2004.Salman Khan case: Defence questions RTO officer.

Further when the defense questioned the witness on the presence of a blank page in the register and the absence of Khan’s picture or signature on the page mentioning his license, the officer said that he was unaware of the reasons. The prosecution is likely to reexamine the witness on Wednesday. The court is also likely to pass an order on an application made by the prosecution who said that under a section of the Criminal Procedure Code, the witness, a gazetted officer of the Forensic Science Laboratory, cannot be questioned on the process which he adopted for examination and analysis. The defense opposed the application.
